About the Visa

Most travelers need a visitor visa to travel to Canada. A visitor visa is also known as a temporary resident visa (TRV) is an official document that we added to your passport for official permission to enter Canada & also shows that you meet the requirements needed to enter Canada.

How long you can stay

Most visitors can stay for up to 6 months in Canada.

At the port of entry, the border services officer may allow you to stay for less or more than 6 months.

VISA TYPES & CONDITIONS

A SINGLE ENTRY VISA

A single-entry visa allows entering Canada only once. Once you leave Canada that’s it. You will require a new visa should you wish to enter Canada again. This does not hold though should you leave Canada and travel to the US or St. Pierre and Miquelon.

A MULTIPLE ENTRY VISA

While valid, a multiple entry visa will let you travel to Canada for six months at a time as many times as you want. It will be valid for up to 10 years or one month before your passport expires, whichever is shorter. You must arrive in Canada on or before the expiry date on your visa.
